Week 2 // 24th September 2015

For this session it was focused on my presentation for my business plan in the morning. In the afternoon it focused on legal structures and cash flow. 

The morning session for me was valuable as it allowed me to improve on my presentational skills and public speaking. I found this valuable as I usually struggle with speaking clearly and getting my point across. Overall I am happy I completed my presentation to my peers as I feel like I could do it again but in a more calm and clear way.

After completing my presentation we then moved on to legal structures of business. This allowed me to see what kind of business owner I would be if I took my idea forward. From this I would be a Limited company as a freelance worker or a sole trader depending on what I would sell. If I did my business as a free lance Illustrator I would be an Ltd company. This has become clearer to me on the legal structures of a business whereas before I did not know what category I would be under.  

After touching on cash flow in the afternoon session I feel very clear on what I need to find out for my business such as prices for hosting websites and online stores. After creating a spread sheet with someone else’s cash flow on I feel that I could create one myself on Excel with the correct formulas. Overall I feel that cash flow isn’t as complicated as I thought it would be.   

Day 1 //17th September 2015

DAY 1 – 17^th September 2015

As part of the creative enterprise brief for this semester I am required to create a plan for my future career aspects. As I am interested in fashion graphics, marketing and media I have decided to explore this characteristic and create a business plan, website and prototype of the service/product I will offer.

I have previously done this before in the foundation degree for a mock graphic design business that I would have set up rather than going onto finish my degree. I have found that this will help me develop my own business plan further. I feel that I have done this different to last time as I am trying to experiment with more than just graphic design when it comes to my career aspiration by adding different types of media into my service/product such as media and marketing.

I feel that my idea is a little vague so I would need to do more research into marketing and media business and see what they have to offer. I would also need to think of the complete branding for my business plan as I don’t have anything for that so far. I will also research and create a mission statement for my brand so that everyone will get the purpose of my service/product.

Overall I am happy with the outcome of today, as I feel clear on where I need to start in terms of getting myself started on this brief. I also feel confident onto putting my ideas down of my business to create a clear understanding of what I want.
